A staple in the blends of the Southern Rhone and a fixture in most regions of Spain, where it is believed to have originated, Grenache is one of the most widely-planted varieties in the world.  It thrives in warm climates and has found a happy home at Miraflores, perched high on our west-facing, well-drained hillside at 2,700 ft elevation. Ruby-garnet in color, with an intoxicating nose of snickerdoodle cookie and dried herbs of basil, oregano, and white pepper, this Grenache is soft, light bodied, and has a lovely finish of brambly raspberry. With its medium body and fresh acidity Grenache is the ultimate “food wine” and pairs well with a variety of dishes from braised beef and light curry dishes to macaroni & cheese or lentil soup.
