At the heart of our winery lies a deep respect for terroir. The unique combination of land, climate, slopes, sun exposure, winds, and latitude gives our wines their distinct character. Every bottle reflects the harmony between nature and craftsmanship.
We create balanced, high-quality wines that express the true essence of our vineyard. Set against a beautiful, welcoming landscape, our winery is a place where kindness comes naturally and every guest feels at home.

Meet The Owner
From an idea to a reality
What stands today as Miraflores began as one man’s enduring dream.
Dr. Victor Alvarez was born in Santa Rosa de Cabal and raised in Pereira, Colombia. He grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him hard work, love, and perseverance. Though he fulfilled his dream of becoming a physician, he always carried another dream. to build something lasting. A family legacy rooted in the land.
In 1998, Dr. Victor Alvarez purchased the high-elevation property that would become Miraflores Winery.
That same year, he planted the first vines.
Victor personally designed the winery, blending Mediterranean and Tuscan countryside elegance with California Gold Country charm. a reflection of his heritage and his belief that wine is about beauty, hospitality, and bringing people together.

A Living Legacy
Today
Today, Miraflores spans 254 acres in Pleasant Valley, Placerville, with 16 varietals planted across our estate. We are proud to run on solar energy and to be Fish Friendly Farming Certified, protecting the wildlife and natural corridors that surround us.
Our winemaker, Fernando Abarca, crafts small-lot wines that have earned more than 80 scores of 90+ points from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. Miraflores has also been voted one of El Dorado’s Best Wineries for nine consecutive years (2015–2024).
But beyond accolades, Miraflores is a place to slow down.
Our tasting room was designed as a space of warmth and timeless character, featuring reclaimed beams from the historic Oakland Ferry Building, 200-year-old Mediterranean stone flooring, and a 13th-century fireplace from Crete.
Here, guests gather in the tasting room, barrel room, and on the stone patio overlooking the vineyards. We host year-round events, seasonal food and wine pairings, and complimentary barrel tastings — always with the intention of making every guest feel at home.
