Description
A staple in the blends of the Southern Rhone and a fixture in most regions of Spain, where it is believed to have originated, Grenache is one of the most widely-planted varieties in the world. It thrives in warm climates and has found a happy home at Miraflores, perched high on our west-facing, well-drained hillside at 2,700 ft elevation. Fresh aromas of fruits de bois (wild forest berries), rose-petal, ripe strawberry, red licorice and white pepper introduce a wine with medium body, remarkable balance and a long, vibrant finish. For our 2019 it was decided to bottle early as a special release to capture this wonderful expression.
With its medium body and fresh acidity Grenache is the ultimate “food wine” and pairs well with a variety of dishes from braised beef and light curry dishes to macaroni & cheese and lentil soup.
